Blur the lock screen?

Is there a way to blur the screen when it is locked?

I found another thread where someone was asking to lock the screen, but not blur it or anything, i like my privacy and would like to blur it instead.

I'm using xscreensaver but can switch to whatever

Re: Blur the lock screen?

An interesting way would be to
1) capture a screenshot
2) blur said screenshot
3) set your screensave to actually display and image
4) point the screensaver at your blurred screenshot

1 & 2 should be easy enough, I use scrot for screenshots, and it's quite easy to use, and imagemagick can easily handle any image processing you might want to to (a gaussian blur is very easy).

3 & 4) glslideshow set zoom to 100, and on the advanced tab give it the path to the folder where you will put your screenshot.

When I use xscreensaver, even if I have it "disabled" when I run xflock4 it blanks the screen anyways, any ideas there?

Re: Blur the lock screen?

that would work to an extent,

I'm really hoping to find a way to do that as the screensaver loads.  basically the same thing that distort does.  or even better, just blurs the screen but its still "activated" (like in the link above)
