I've trawled the net searching for this answer and nothing seems to work.
I'm trying to link up my desktop with my wife's laptop.
Both computers use Xubuntu 11.04.
Both computers are connected to a router.
All I am trying to do is to be able to cut/paste files from one computer to the other. I want to have the same sharing permissions between each computer to ensure that cutting/pasting of files from one computer to the other can be managed identically on each computer.
Here are my network connection settings as per screenshots:
Here's me trying, and failing, to use Thunar to connect to the Laptop:
I used Nautilius under Sudo on both computers to change the permissions of both Video folders to "share":
As you can see from the screenshots, I haven't been wasting my time in trying to learn how to connect the two computers up.
Can someone please help?

I have previously tried to connect to 2 PC under Xubuntu 11.04 and finally gave up and installed vsftpd (an FTP server) in one PC and Filezilla in both. It's not very elegant but it's easier to set and does the job.

This isn't really an XFCE question, it's an Ubuntu question. Try asking at their forum; it's much more active than this one, and the people reading it all use the same distro you are.

Any advice in this post is worth exactly what you paid for it.
