weird issues with Xfce battery plugin; invalid, settings not applying

My battery plugin does weird things, but usually it works fine. Some times it indicates 8080 hours of battery life and does not decrease from that number though I'm running on battery.

Today it began doing something more interesting, indicated "50%%" battery life and will not take any settings I change in the properties.

Below are two images, one that shows the "50%%" weirdness and the other showing what settings I have selecting in the properties. You may notice that the settings in the properties do not reflect on the panel plug-in.

Thoughts?
