Problems installing panel plugins

I just tried to install the clipman plugin on a Fedora 14  box running XFCE 4.8.  ./configure failed, claiming that it couldn't find exo-1 of version 0.6 or up.  Checking, I have version 0.6.2 in the standard location.

Then, I tried to install the sensors plugin and was told that I was missing both libxfce4ui-1 and libnotify.  They're both listed as optional components, but ./configure failed anyway.  And, of course, the files are installed already.  Does anybody know what's going on, or how I can work around this?

Re: Problems installing panel plugins

You're sure you have the .dev versions of the needed libraries?

Re: Problems installing panel plugins

Good question.  Excellent question, but alas, I do have the .dev versions.

Make sure you have PKG_CONFIG_PATH set.

Re: Problems installing panel plugins

Interesting.  It's not.  I wonder why Fedora doesn't set that.  What should it be?

Re: Problems installing panel plugins

When I checked with yum, it seemed to say that the devel packages were present, but yumex (the GUI front end for it) doesn't.  I'm installing them now.
