I have the Places applet installed in my panel in Xfce 4.8 on Fedora 16, x86_64. Normally, when I click on a folder the applet launches Thunar. Today I acquired a 32 GB USB 3.0 flash drive (only $20!), and it appears in Places, but when I click on it I get Nautilus instead of Thunar. (Gnome is also installed.) So I checked further and discovered that my other USB drive (a regular hard drive, connected all the time) also launches in Nautilus. Everything else launches in Thunar.
However, if I have a Thunar window open and I click on either external drive, then the external drive displays in the Thunar window.
So the Places applet doesn't think external drives are good enough for Thunar?
