Hello,
I have been running XFCE 4.8.0 on a Fedora 12 box with dual monitors. For a long time I had some minor issues with the panels not always staying on the correct monitor after logging out and in. However, recently, the panels have started crashing on start up. The panel will only crash if there are panels on both monitors (:0.0 and :0.1). If there is only 1 panel on :0.0 then the panel is fine. I have been googling around and have not seen anyone with a similar problem.
I have tried running the panel program directly from the command line. Here are the first few lines of the error messages:
libpager-Message: Failed to set the number of pager rows. You probably have more then 1 pager in your panel setup.
Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'xfce4-panel' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
(Details: serial 256 error_code 8 request_code 1 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

The abort messages carry on for several thousand lines before finally segfaulting. Anyone have any ideas as to what may be wrong?
If its relevant, my graphics card is an nvidia card with multiple outputs running driver version 270.41.19.

Alex

Ahh, ok, will do. Does this seem like a new problem/bug?

Just a follow up for anyone else with a similar problem in the future: upgrading to panel version 4.8.6 fixed my issues.
