Pidgin and mpd notifications

How to enable them? I've installed pidgin-libnotify and notify-osd, but new message notifications won't pop up (other notifications work).

Same question for mpd (e.g. next song).

If you are using Debian or Ubuntu base systems, the current libnotify (0.14.7) doesn't work. I don't have access to the bug reports because I'm on my phone, but hopefully in the next version it will be operational.

System is running on Wheezy.
So there's nothing much to do than simply wait.
