how to handle ssh keys in xfce?

i've recently started using them more and more but i always have to run "ssh-add" in terminal to add them manually. is there a prefered way to handle ssh keys in xfce?

The terminal is the preferred method. There aren't too many gui ssh programs.

One thing you could do it mount remote shares with sshfs. Then you can browse remote folders in thunar.

I have no problem with the Terminal, i was just wondering if there is some way to trigger ssh-add when terminal is started for the first time within a session. Or maybe there is some way to have the ssh-key opened while logging in into XFCE at all.

If you want to have ssh-add started each time you log in, you can use xfce startup script: Setting manager > Session and startup > Application Autostart

Personally, I have gnome-keyring running to handle this and start it by checking "Run GNOME services" in xfce4-session preferences.

Just managed to have some time over the weekend to dig into this. pam_ssh didn't do what i was expecting it to do but i figured that gnome-keyring will do just fine. So i am using this right now. There is an option in the password dialog box to unlock the key at login. But this is inactive on my machine and i couldn't really figured out why.

I'm not sure if what I'm saying is related with this issue but I think that the package libpam-gnome-keyring (Debian) unlocks the keyring at login time (at least with gdm).

ya, i think i have this installed even if i don't run debian. i assumed it would work with gdm but i am using slim. maybe there is a workaround for slim as well.
