Reducing monospace font size?

Good evening to everyone. I recently installed Debian with XFCE onboard after about a month of using it on OpenSUSE, think I have some strange problems with  fonts - with a monospace one. The problem is that gedit - and terminal - uses VERY large font for some reason. Dunno why, the font is Monospace 11 and earlier on OpenSUSE it wasn't SO large. Fortunately I can set fractional value in Terminal settings. Unfortunately I can't do this in gedit, and reducing it by only one point makes a text a bit hard to read - I use gedit for programming. Take a look:

So, is there any way to change default monospace font to a fractional value system-wide or maybe do something with the fonts? Never had that kind of problems before. And I absolutely have no opinion where to dig.
It would be glad if you can help.

PS. Distro: Debian wheezy.
P.P.S. Same shituation with another "mono" fonts.
