Hello,
When I start an application by clicking on its desktop icon, the icon remains selected. Is it possible to alter this behaviour, so that when application is launched its desktop icon is automatically deselected?

I don't think so. But Xfce 4.10 has tweaked xfdesktop and it has single-click support, but I don't know if it changes what you're asking.

It kinda makes sense to unselect after a successful launch. You can report it at bugzilla.xfce.org

If you do, please post a link to the bug here so that others can add their comments. And, if I'm not mistaken, doing this will put XFCE out at the bleeding edge, because I don't think any other DE does this.

Any advice in this post is worth exactly what you paid for it.

It seems, other member has already posted the link... As far as I remember, KDE does this, but not GNOME or LXDE.
