I have less hard drive space even though I just deleted some files

I have less hard drive space after deleting some files and emptying trash. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Would there be any hidden folders lying about on your disk?

I myself use hidden folders for some useful stuff, such as having collections of wallpapers in ~/.wallpapers.  Something useful that I don't need to open all that often.

Perhaps there's a hidden folder you have with lots of stuff in it?

I'm just giving it a bit of a guess; I don't know enough to think what else what might be making a mess of your hard drive...
