[Solved] wishing for ..

an editor with column selection other than emacs or vim. Actually I am ok with vim but if there were an xfce wishlist, I would wish for this in mousepad or gedit.

Have you tried SciTE? wink I used it for a long time when I was doing web development, and I remember it having column selection. It's based on GTK+ so it plays well with XFCE.

If not solved, my wish is functionally granted, thank you. It even does case conversion and there is a FreeBSD port.

Glad I could help. SciTE is quite awesome. Pretty much the only text editor for Linux that compares to Notepad++.
