Hi everyone, this is my first message on the forum
I'm trying XFCE (xfce4-session 4.8.2) on a Mandriva 2011 (kernel 3.0.3) and I noticed the absence of icons on the desktop ; Also a right-click on it will produce no effect, is this normal ?
No Alt-Tab to switch between open windows too, now I'm pretty sure *that* is not normal...
Apart from that everything is OK, windows have title bars, my panel stays in place, and everything is fast (and I mean wow) as a firefly.
I'm I right assuming that Thunar is responsible for the displaying of icons on the desktop ? Then what process is in charge of the Alt-tab ?
How can I restore those two features, especially alt-tab (I can live without icons on the desktop) ? Please help, I really like/need XFCE, KDE/QT has gone mad, it's ridiculous

It sounds like xfdesktop isn't running. Try Alt+F2 and starting it by running:
xfdesktop

Wow, guess what, it wasn't even installed. And the keyboard shortcuts were not configured either (I guess when Mandriva say they don't support other desktops than KDE they mean it ) ; Thank you very much, now everything is dandy
