Window Decorations aren't loading - plus other oddness

Hello,

When I boot into Ubuntu 12.04 + XFCE 4.8* (which I've had for a little while now) the windows run without decorations and there are various problems with z-indexing and focus, ie:

  • No decorations around any windows

  • Chrome has it's own custom skin, but the min / max buttons fail to work

  • No re-layering of windows, the last opened is always on top (even ontop of panels)

  • Some windows / window elements fail to receive focus - Terminal, ALT+F2 (Run application)

  • My panel item to show open windows isn't running

Tried searching the forums, but not turned anything up, I think that might be down to the fact I don't quite know the terminology for these things - any help would be much appreciated :-)

OK, so I have "fixed" it by adding xfwm4 –daemon to my sessions and startup; works for now but I'm pretty sure this should reside elsewhere...
