Hi all,
I've got a problem with my xfce - the desktop icons, backgorund and menu shows up after about 30 seconds from login. Debian 6.0.5 XFCE on HP Compaq 615 (laptop). At first, after some reading, I thought xfdesktop had some sort of a lag, but right after logging in I get:
root@compaq615:/home/uluroki# ps aux | grep xfdesktop
uluroki 11329 0.0 0.1 163456 5972 ? S 17:55 0:00 xfdesktop --display :0.0 --sm-client-id 20f50b05b-83db-4d9f-9681-be86848e60eb
root 11550 0.0 0.0 7564 864 pts/0 S+ 17:56 0:00 grep xfdesktop
And this is before the menu & desktop appears. Xfce version 4.6.2. Some advice, please?

Have you looked in the logs to see any reports of a problem?
I use Fedora, so I don't know how Debian does things. In Fedora, the log in /var/log/messages has time stamps so it would be helpful if you note the time down to the nearest second when you do the login. Do you get any core dumps? In Fedora, they would be directories in /var/spool/abrt.

Xubuntu 12.04 users are currently experiencing a similar problem and it seems to be related to the accountsservice package. See: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1970326 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/996791

I've "left" the problem for some time and now I can say, that it only occurs when I'm connected to the Internet while logging. If I figure something out I'll post it.

Could this have something to do with the thunar/gvfs-smb 30 s delay?
