Hi,
Just switched to xfce to see how it looks (was on Gnome 2). Pulling up any application, the application menubars are missing. Application icons (new, open, save, print, etc.) are there but the menubar above: just gone. I went back to Gnome and verified: in Gnome the menubars are there. In xfce, not there. The apps I looked at are Gnumeric spreadsheet, gedit, and Open Office.
No mention of this problem on the site that I can find. Obviously if this can't be fixed I'm not sticking with xfce.
So what's wrong?

This isn't normal, of course.
You may look in Settings>Appearance for something but maybe you're running gnome-settings-daemon, which is the GNOME settings and that may be conflicting with something. gnome-settings-daemon settings you change with dconf-editor (some still with gconf-editor).
You might want to delete those apps settings too, maybe. They're under ~/.gconf, I think (and maybe some stuff in ~/.cache ?), and libreoffice may be somewhere else.
