Lts cut to the chase. I have Slackware 13.37. The main menu file that pops up from the lower left corner has multiple entries for some apps, and no entries
for some I use. What file or files must I edit? I prefer to edit such files using gvim. The wiki instructions are totally confusing. I use version 4.6.2.

Hello, John.
The entries are defined by the .desktop files (usually at /usr/share/applications, but also at /usr/local/share/applications or ~/.local/share/applications).
They shouldn't repeat themselves but some Xfce apps (like Thunar and Terminal) have more than one main category in their desktop files so they show up duplicated.

So you can either edit those files (cp them to ~/.local/share/applications and edit them there) like suggested in the bug reports or use a tweaked Xfce menu file as ~/.config/menus/xfce-applications.menu .

As for the apps that don't appear on the menu, you have to create desktop files for them.
Look at the ones from other apps to have an idea. The specs are at http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-s … index.html
