Something is absent from my GUI. What can I do?

Dear Xfce community,

I really appreciate your hard work which allows me to use Xfce.

I want to give something back. Altough I lack the necessary programming skills, I still would like to contribute from the user's perspective.

Usually, users type some keywords into Google Search which are vaguely related to their problem, due to the fact of not being able to identify the cause of their problem. Maybe they get here and give the official forum a try. Hopefully, they post a solution to their problem, so this forum can prosper as the central source of advice.

Therefore, I suggest to use this thread as Q&A styled collection of solutions to the  typical question of Something is missing. How do I get it back?

Any questions? Try the official Xfce wiki as well.

Q: The top-level bar of windows is missing.

A: What you refer to is called a frame. Check out No Frames in Xubuntu.

Q: Some of my panel items have gone.

A: You need to add the Indicator Plugin. For instance, volume setting has gone: Check out Panal items.

This idea already exists : the xfce wiki http://wiki.xfce.org/
FAQ : http://wiki.xfce.org/faq

The only difference is that ppl are more used to create and reply forum than editing wiki, so you gona have some ppl who will post here but with time, I think it will be a mess as forum thread don't have any hiearchy structure.
I think that you efforts will be more valuable on editing/maintaining the xfce wiki.

Anyway, it's a nice initiative !!!! And your contribution is welcome :-)

Xfce is NOT Xubuntu. Bugs in Xubuntu don't mean that Xfce is buggy ...

I took a step in both directions. Take a look at my signature ^^

The disproportional gap between the frustration experienced by users and the effort taken by developers simply bugs me. Maybe I'll find a more creative approach to bridge this attitude problem.
