[Solved] WM Not Displaying Right/Left Window Border

Recently, I noticed certain WM themes fail to display right/left borders which makes resizing windows from the side impossible. Windows also leave a 1px gap on the left/right (where the window border should be) between themselves and the monitor edge or themselves and other windows.

I use the Totem theme (Arch+XFCE, clean install) which is where I first noticed the issue. I thought I'd seek help on the forum before filing a bug report.

The left screenshot in the image below shows my WM current behavior, while the right shows the border drawn in where it should be.

Example

The issue is also present with the following other themes:

Default, Default-4.8, Metabox, and Next

I should also perhaps mention the files "right-active.xpm"/"left-active.xpm" exist in the theme folders, and I suppose are just not used for 1px border themes.

Do you have any error message in ~/.xsession-errors?
Sometimes maybe a GTK upgrade broke the themes.

I don't have an ~/.xsession-errors file, but I think that might be due to how I'm launching XFCE.

I redirected the standard output and error from my launching command like this:

| exec ck-launch-session  dbus-launch startxfce4 >> ~/output 2>&1

and recieved the following, maybe relevant outputs:

[...]
QGtkStyle was unable to detect the current GTK+ theme.

QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set

No, that's a bug in Qt that makes the Qt apps not use the selected GTK theme.
You can simply launch an app that has the problem from the terminal and look at the messages about the GTK theme.
