HDMI display doesn't appear in Settings > Display

When I was running ubuntu with xfce on this laptop the HDMI display worked fine. Now I'm on Debian squeeze and I can't use it.

Settings > Display shows only one display on the list "Screen 1". This display shows up when I run xrandr as LVDS and it also shows HDMI-0 as connected.

I tried running "xrandr --output HDMI-0 --left-of LVDS1" but that didn't make anything show up on the HDMI display either.

If it's relevant, my video card is "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Graphics"
