I've recently discovered that "lighter" doesn't necesarily mean "faster." A couple of weeks ago I tried an Openbox distro only to find that I had to completely leave my computer alone while it was doing any heavy tasks. I'm currently using KDE and it preforms much better regardless of whether or not I'm using desktop effects. Although I know I have the specs to run KDE, it can be a bit buggy at times. I've used Xfce in the past and have liked it a lot, but before I install it on my computer I'd like to know if I will likely be experiencing the same problem I had with the Openbox distro.
Thanks in advance.

Nope, Xfce is really low cpu consumption and low memory impact. As I understand Openbox is just a Window Manager so comparing Xfce, which is a Desktop Environment, and Openbox is not really right. It's more xfwm4 (Xfce 's window manager) vs openbox ....
For Openbox issue, have you ask on their forum ?

Xfce is NOT Xubuntu. Bugs in Xubuntu don't mean that Xfce is buggy ...
