Slight panel alignment problem ...

Installed xubuntu 12.04 yesterday over ubuntu 12.04/xfce 4.8.  Seemed the safest & untimately easier way to get rid of unity/gnome crap.  MUCH better integration, I highly recommend it to gnome refugees.

But this morning I was configuring the bottom panel and I tried to put the session menu item on the right, and now the panel isn't centre aligned anymore but left aligned.  And I can't seem to find any way yet to centre align it.

Suggestions?

Re: Slight panel alignment problem ...

not sure why it would upset that, but:

right-click >> 'panel' >>  'panel preferences' >> uncheck 'lock panel' >> use your mouse to grab the panel by an end, drag it along the bottom until it snaps to the centre. then you can recheck 'lock panel'.

doing that, and making sure 'automatically increase the length' is checked should keep everything centered.

Re: Slight panel alignment problem ...

Another option is to have a full width panel and add expanding separator plugins on both ends (isn't it the method xubuntu used in a bottom panel btw?). Expanding separators behave like "springs" pushing other plugins apart, so if there are two of them they will balance out.
