Xfce4-mixer 4.10 & xfce4-volumed

Hi guys, I just discovered that the latest version of xfce4-mixer (4.10) handles the volume keys of the keyboard, but does not provide notification when you adjust the volume.
Previously this task was carried out by xfce4-volumed, which provided notifications too, but I can see that xfce4-volumed doesn't work with xfce4-mixer 4.10.

Should we consider xfce4-volumed deprecated?
Is there a way to having both the control of the volume keys and volume notification by using xfce4-mixer 4.10?

Thanks!

I believe it is xfce4-notifyd that handles the notifications. The volume does follow the settings in there in 4.10 for me.

Thanks for the reply.
What versions of xfce4.notifyd and xfce4-mixer do you use?

I'm using Xfce 4.10 on Kororaa (a Fedora remix) 17, xfce4-notifyd is 0.2.2 and xfce4-mixer is 4.10.0

Thank you very much ozjd!
So you don't have xfce4-volumed, but you still get notifications when you change volume with your hotkeys?

Thanks again!

Actually I do have xfce4-volumed, ver. 0.1.13, but I'm not sure if it does anything. I try and do some experimenting and let you know.

I know that the notifications work and their appearance at least is controlled by xfce4-notifyd, e.g. changing the theme changes their appearance.

I did some testing and without xfce4-volumed I don't get notifications. So it appears it is still needed.

Thank you very much for your testing!

The fact is that if I start xfce4-volumed from a terminal it says that he can't start&work because the hotkeys are controlled by xfce4-mixer hmm

Looking at Keyboard - Application Shortcuts I see that the volume keys use amixer. That's the default, I didn't change anything.
