Moving files on desktop results in copy instead of move?

I'm trying to organize my cluttered desktop and when I move files on the desktop, I expect them to be moved into the folder (Like in Windows, etc)  but instead the files are copied, with duplicates on the desktop and in the folder.

This is a little frustrating, and reminds me of the infamous problem in philosophy when one uses an atom teleporter only to find that the original has been copied instead of moved. Now there are two, but there can only be one.

I am running 4.10 on Gentoo.

Re: Moving files on desktop results in copy instead of move?

That's a bug. Desktop is dealt with xfdesktop and file manager is thunar and they don't behave the same.
To move the files try shift+drag.

It's not really a design issue but rather something to be fixed in the future I suppose, when anyone steps up.

Importance:     Medium trivial

Trivial? Its called a desktop manager but it can't manage my desktop! Somebody should triage this a few grades higher.
