Locking desktop icons in place Xfce4.10 in Linux Mint 14

Hello

I know this has been asked before, but the solutions posted don't seem to work for me. I also cannot find anytjing in the official docs nor onthe web - all solutions come back to the one I've already tried.

The problem:

Everytime I change a setting in a panel or evoke the Settings menu, so the location of my desktop icons goes out and they automatically rearrange themselves.

Solutions attempted:
I applied the solution proposed in this forum http://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?pid=27992#p27992

sudo chattr +i ~/.config/xfce4/desktop/icons*

But this doesn't fix the problem.

I don't seem able to relocate the icons into my desktop folder as someone else suggested.

To be fair, the icons are always in the same position whenever I reboot - it is just when doing something with the Settings menu that they go haywire. It is really annoying and there must surely be someway of fixing them in place - especially considering how long Xfce4 has been going!

Any ideas please?
