Global Application Menus... will it be supported?

Howdy xfce hackers!

I was wondering if work was done on global application menus (Mac Like...). Everything I found on the Internet such as https://launchpad.net/xfce-appmenu-plugin date back 2 years and simply do not work on any recent Xubuntu distros. This option would be quite handy to maximise space on small screen devices such as netbooks.
