Something changed on my system and I found that I had lost my cursor, all my windows had lost their top bar, I was unable to move or resize windows .... the problem was unpleasant!
I have been able to repair the manager by running 'xfwm4 --replace' .... that works fine but as soon as I shut the system down the problems are back again and I need to do the replace again.
Help would be appreciated. Xubuntu 12.10 64 bit on a Lenovo W530 Thinkpad.

Try deleting the $HOME/.cache/sessions directory before you log in (i.e. from a virtual console - Ctrl+Alt+F1).

Hi.
Press ALT+F2 to execute the applications launcher, then put:
xfwm4 --replace
It should solve the problem of the top-bar windows.
