Not sure what a bookmark bar is, but if you mean the panels, themselves: Right-click somewhere on the blank area of one of the panels. Select Panel Preferences. Pick the panel (by number) that you wish to adjust. Under Measurements, increase the Row Size (pixels) to a larger number. I use a size of 40, but the best size for you will depend on the size of your monitor, your screen resolution, and your eyes.
If, when you right-click on a blank spot on one of your panels, you get a Separator context-menu instead of the Panel one, you chose an area that is "filled" by a Separator (for spacing/formatting purposes) instead of an actual blank area. In that case, choose a different "blank" spot - or a different panel.
You can also do this from the main menu in your desktop. Go to /Settings/Panel.
