Does xfce4 support active icons as xfce3 did?

There was talk about adding active icons to xfce4.   Did it ever happen?

BTW, requiring sha256 or a derivitive as a registration requirement is pretty dumb.  Our installation
had none of them.

Luckily I found an old username from before that was required.

Re: Does xfce4 support active icons as xfce3 did?

As I've never used Xfce 3 I am wondering what "active icons" are?

Can you explain them here a bit, please? Thanks in advance. smile

Re: Does xfce4 support active icons as xfce3 did?

If I open an edit session and minimize it, it goes to the taskbar.  In an active icon system it minimizes to an icon that I can place on the destop.  So, for example, I can have 10 icons in a row on my desktop that represent 10 open edit sessions, terminals, or any runnng programs that can be minimized.  So. for example, I know that the icon in the upper right corner of my desktop is an open edit session for my .cshrc.

In "normal" systems desktop icons can only represent executables or folder.

aaasics,
Yes, if you change the icon type to "Minimized application icons" in the xfdesktop-settings application then xfdesktop will show them on the desktop. This page covers most of those preferences: http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/preferences

If your saying desktop icons, No! It didn't. I use Xfce4, it supports icons.
