[Solved] Keeping a window from showing up in window button

I have steam installed which shows up not only as a button in the window button panel plugin but also in as an icon in the notification area.

What I'd like is to not have the steam windows button show up and use only the steam icon in the notification area.

Is this possible?

This is more of an application issue than an Xfce issue, but does STEAM_FRAME_FORCE_CLOSE=1 help?

Thanks for the reply. Ran the command in xfce-term but didn't seem to do anything. If there is anything else you might think of then please let me know.

UPDATE:

Boy do I feel stupid. Didn't realize the command was also a link.
After reading through some of the post I came across

echo 'STEAM_FRAME_FORCE_CLOSE DEFAULT=1' >> ~/.pam_environment

and it works.
