Re: Adding emblems to Thunar

In the icon theme's "emblems" folder (<icon_theme>/emblems/scalable/<icon>.svg).
Sized png files can be placed in the respective {8,16,22,24,32,48,64,96} folders under emblems
You'll need to change the icon theme away and back (or log out and in again) for it to show up in Thunar's folder->properties->emblems list.

Re: Adding emblems to Thunar

In addition to the above:

In 2025's version of Xfce 4.18 you must name your icon file to start with "emblem-" according to a pattern such as: "emblem-*.svg".

Example:

emblem-git.svg

Also, you must rebuild the respective icon folder cache.

Re: Adding emblems to Thunar

Hasn't it always been the case? The base icon names from the FreeDesktop specs for emblems are named emblems-* since forever. I always assumed it was a mandatory pattern name for all emblems.
