2 seconds delay for click and hold

My touchpad started to behave weirdly yesterday: whenever I need to click and hold the left mouse button, such as when moving a window or when selecting text, it takes 2 seconds between the time I press the button and the time it becomes effective. in other words, I can't just press, move, release, I have to press, hold 2 seconds, move, release.
It's a little annoying. could it be some settings that has changed after  a software update?
