In MX-14, we are now (approaching RC 1) using QupZilla as default browser because of its high function:size ratio.
Looking for where that choice is specified, I find ~/.config/xfce4/helpers.rc, where I read:
WebBrowser=custom-WebBrowser
Is there a second location where the exact identity of that "custom" browser is indicated? Our goal is to change a GUI entry now called "Restore QupZilla defaults" into "Restore Default Browser defaults," and we are having trouble seeing where to look.
If I install midori and make it default browser, for instance, then I see in helpers.rc:
WebBrowser-midori
Is there a master list of known/named browsers that we can edit so the helpers.rc file will include the actual browser name?
Thanks for any help.

Let me reframe this question, since my first effort elicited no response.
When the user selects a browser, any browser, under Preferred Applications, why doesn't the name just simply show up in the helpers.rc file as long as there is an executable and a desktop file?
Or is this a question for the devs list?
