Hi all
Xfce 4.10.1
I have set up 3 menu directories:
Studioware Audio
Studioware Video
Studioware Photo
They work fine apart from one thing. When I use the panel Applications Menu button all is good.
When I right click on the desktop (or use keyboard shortcut for menu) the menus are there and work, but no icons show for the custom items.
This is the contents of one:
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Type=Directory
Icon=/usr/share/icons/studioware/scalable/categories/studioware-logo-54x54.png
Name=Studioware Audio
Name[en_GB]=Studioware Audio
Comment=Studioware Audio Tools
Any ideas?

Interesting that the Applications Menu implementation seems to differ from xfdesktop (xfdesktop manages the menu thats placed on the desktop via right-click or keyboard shortcut).
Looks like the xfdesktop implementation of the menu directory's Icon item can't include a full path (or isn't processed properly). If you set it up via the freedesktop icon spec, it will work. In other words, don't specify a full path but place the icon in the correct location for the icon theme that you are using (or hicolor if you want to cover all icon themes as I believe it is inherited by all icon themes). For scalable svg files (/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/categories) or for png files in the respective /usr/share/icons/hicolor/*x*/categories directories, and just specify the icon name.

You might also want to create a bug report against xfdesktop for this.
