Text not displaying properly

Hi, I'm new in this forum, and I have a problem with Thunar. When I open thunar, instead of words, there are squares. This happens only when I open Thunar, or when I have to rename a program. Point out that when I start thunar with root permissions, the text is displayed correctly. The problem manifested itself when I updated mint to version 16.

OS: Linux Mint 16 Xfce
Xfce version: 4.10

Was this a literal update (aka "upgrade-in-place"), or did you do a regular "fresh" install of Mint 16? Or did you have your /home directory on a separate partition so that it was undisturbed?
