In a few different distros, currently the Mint17 release candidate, when replacing the Whisker menu with the older standard application menu, you get only a partial menu.

This other user has the same problem menu
He had made a few changes to his system, but mine was a straight install.

The problem may be related to a file named "Garcon". The other place to check (from the PCLinuxOS Forum) reverting the code base of the panel to 4.10.1 fixes the problem. I don't know how to do this.

Garcon is actually a package. It provides the /etc/xdg/xfce-applications.menu file and the /usr/share/desktop-directories files.
Out of curiosity, is this new version of Mint still based on Xubuntu? Both of the menu systems in Xubuntu work with the latest garcon packages.

Yes, it is the Ubuntu based version of Mint, but I have seen the same problem on Makulu (a Debian based distro) and PcLinuxOS (which is sort of Red Hat based.) The right click>Application Menu is fine, the panel menu, not.

Hey I got my application menu back in mint 17 by going into synaptics package manager and reinstalling libgarcon 1-0 and rebooting. Still, right clicking just launches program. Anyone have any ideas?
