Hello,
I would like to be able to hit a keyboard combo to open the file that is currently selected in Thunar with a specific app, e.g. Geany.
I understand how to make a right-click shortcut for Thunar, and I can so Shift+F10 to access the right-click menu, then use the arrow keys to hit the shortcut there, but I am hoping for something slicker/fewer keystrokes.
I know the basics of how to create a shortcut in Settings Manager > Keyboard >Application Shortcuts, but I can't seem to figure out if it is possible to somehow pick up the currently selected file and let a shortcut there use it.
Xubuntu 14.04, Thunar 1.6.3
Any ideas? Thanks!

You could create a custom action to open any file with Geany, then assign that custom action a menu accelerator. See: http://docs.xfce.org/faq.
Just tried it here and it works. Note: you need to assign the menu accelerator shortcut from the File menu and not from the right-click menu.
