[Solved] compositing

Im under fedora 20 xfce and when i try to enable compositing i have a black screen and can't do anything.
Any ideas ?

Sounds like a graphics driver issue. What graphics card do you have and which driver are you using?

You have 2 cards, probably the S3 is on the motherboard and the Matrox is an added card. The Matrox should be using the mga driver and I believe should have support for compositing. Which are you using and what driver?

BTW both these are old cards and if I read the Fedora packagedb correctly may not be supported in 21.

There is probably an easier way but if you look at /var/log/Xorg.1.log and find the line with the driver name.

If I read that correctly both are active. Both VESA and mga drivers are loaded. VESA won't give you compositing. Not sure how to fix that. Maybe you could ask on the Fedora Forums as it is a Fedora issue rather than Xfce.
