So LXAppearance (Customize Look and Feel) allows an XFCE user to set a custom color scheme. Which I think is great and it's something I missed in Ubuntu after the introduction of Unity. Only the color scheme is only applied on the LXAppearance window itself. Which I think is quite a pitty.
This might be a known bug. In which case I humbly apologize for repeating ourselves.

Just to clarify, Lubuntu/LXDE != Xfce. They are different desktop environments. LXAppearance is probably only affecting LXDE configuration files, not Xfce configuration.
As for a gui for Xfce custom theme colouring, you could use gtk-theme-config (or see this article for screenies: http://www.webupd8.org/2012/09/customiz … using.html.
