Hello, what's up?

Greetings to all, may I please ask for some help?

Last October I installed on an acquaintance's PC Xubuntu 13.10.  All swell.  A week ago I get called because the desktop icons disappeared and the Desktop itself had stopped working (clicking/right-clicking on it had no effect), the wallpaper was also gone.

Everything else worked just fine.  Using the Desktop control panel had no effect whatsoever.

Any ideas/help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Re: Hello, what's up?

Sounds like xfdesktop has crashed. Try manually starting it up:

xfdesktop

If that works, you may consider clearing out your sessions cache (Settings Manager >> Session and Startup >> Session tab, "Clear saved sessions". That should get it starting up automatically again.
