Does the new power manager icon show in the Notification Area?

We are unable to get the NA icon for the 4.12 (on Wheezy) Power Manager to show. Is it showing up for others?

Re: Does the new power manager icon show in the Notification Area?

Yes, it works for me but it was a recent enhancement just got added to git (post 1.4.3) but has not been officially released yet. If you want it, you'll need to build from source. Hopefully there will be a new release of the power manager soon and it should become available pre-packaged.

Yup, thanks. We just compiled the latest Git version so think we will be ok.

Re: Does the new power manager icon show in the Notification Area?

So am I to understand that the xfce4-power-manager that comes with Jessie (version 1.4.1-1) isn't able to display battery tray icon? I see no option for it in power manager settings. If so, is there any way to fix this?

Version 1.4.1 of xfce4-power-manager has the new plugin. Look for "Power Manager Plugin" and add it to your panel. It replaces the old built-in plugin.

Re: Does the new power manager icon show in the Notification Area?

@ToZ: Unfortunately that is not a solution for me. I'm not using xfce panel but tint2. So I think I'll have to go with the internal battery applet of tint instead (it doesn't look as nice as xfce's power manager's icon did, though...). Personally I think it's a bad idea to separate the tasktray icon from the power manager in favor of some gadget that is bound to a certain panel.

A system tray icon for non-Xfce users was also added back to xfce4-power-manager for people who don't run Xfce. It was added in version 1.4.4. You'll need to upgrade to get it. I'm not sure exactly how you would do that with Debian Jesse.
