The latest version of Google Chrome has a security feature that blocks access to sites it rates as unsafe. It blocks the forum as it claims it cannot verify its id. It shows an error NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID. It claims the certificate has expired.

I don't have this issue
Chrome dev 43.0.2327.5 --> works as always
ChromeOS dev 43 --> no issues here
so I guess its an extension issue

I'm on 42.0.2311.39 Beta.
Looking at the error message it says the certificate expired on 20.3 which is the date here. If you are in a different time zone it may affect you, yet.
I also notice that I usually use https where as on Firefox, which I'm using at the moment, I'm on http.

Did some more testing and found that logging in to a unsecured (http) session works on Chrome. It is just using the secure site that is an issue.

The security certificate has expired. They are looking into it.

The certificate has now been dead for 26 hours. Any idea when this will be fixed?
I had to fire up a Windows7 VM to be able to check whether the powers that be (here) were aware of the problem. This is making me do something I had promised myself I would never do again: use Internet Explorer. Unforgivable...

You can still get in on Chrome just not with a secure session. If you delete the cookies and then access the site you will need to log in again. If you use an extension like HTTPS Everywhere you will need to disable it.

Same on Firefox. The only way I can see this forum is by using New Private Window. But it'll get fixed soon, so that little annoyance won't deture me.

Confirmed ... Firefox Private Browsing window works. "Regular" Firefox does not. Cannot change from https to http ... it automatically reverts back to https.
Message in Firefox window is (excerpted):
This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate.
The certificate expired on 03/19/2015 03:20 PM. The current time is 03/22/2015 05:44 AM.
Also works in Midori and Chromium without issues (on my computer).

It will work in Firefox and Chrome if you delete the cookies first.

In Firefox. look in .mozilla/firefox/xxxxx.default (where xxxxx is the name of the current profile firefox is using. In my case it was t7xyapki, yours will be different)/ and look for the file called SiteSecurityServiceState.txt. Open it with your favorite text editor and Search for forum.xfce.org & wiki.xfce.org and delete those lines.
I'm online now in regular Firefox, so it must work. Thanks sonycdr for the info!

I also found out if you use http://forum.xfce.org it goes right to the forums after that trick. If you use https://forum.xfce.org/ you get the warning message, but it does allow you to add an exception rule instead of preventing it.

You need to use http not https for it to work.

Wish I was able to access this thread during the "cert-out," .
Glad it's fixed now. I am somewhat surprised that one must first wait on a security certificate to expire before getting another one, though. Or was it a monetary issue (surely it wasn't that the Administrator just doesn't own a calendar, lol)? If so, perhaps a method for accepting anonymous donations could be set up? I'm no richer than some, poorer than others, but I could probably drop $5 (if I have sufficient warning) in the future.
Regards,
MDM

Weird ... I enter http://forum.xfce.org and Firefox changes it to https://forum.xfce.org. BUT, I can now access the forum without problems in Firefox now, and without any warning message(s). Will be interesting to see if it lasts.

If you didn't delete your cookies it will use https if that is what you did before.
The certificate has been updated so it won't happen again, at least until it expires next time.

Incorrect. Flushing cookies makes no difference.

Very strange as it worked for me on both chrome and Firefox. Of course I didn't use the existing shortcut and on Chrome I had to disable the HTTPS Everywhere extension I was using. I wonder what the difference is.
All academic now as it is working again.

In Chrome go to Setttings>Show Advanced Settings>Network>Change Your Proxy Settings>Connections Tab>Lan Settings and make sue the box next to Automatically Detect Settings is checked. If this doesn't solve the problem go to step 2.
In Chrome go to Settings>Show Advanced Settings>Privacy>Clear Browser Data and clear everything. Also scroll to the bottom and hit Reset Browser Settings. If this doesn't solve your problem go to step 3.
Go to your Profile folder in Windows Explorer and open App Data>Local>Google>Chrome> User Data. Locate the folder called "Default" in the directory window that opens and rename it as "Backup default." Restart your system and open Google Chrome again. A new "Default" folder is automatically created as you start using the browser.

This error message from Google Chrome Browser is one of the most common problems that everyone faces in our day to day life. Google Chrome warns you whenever it finds out any abnormal tracks taken while you browse things on the web. If you are getting the SSL error in chrome, it means your Internet connection or your computer is preventing Chrome from loading the page securely and privately. However, there are few changes or settings which help you to get rid you of this error.
Check System Date and Time
Disable Antivirus SSL Connection
Clear Cookies and Cached Files
Reset Chrome Browser
Open Chrome in Incognito Mode
Expired SSL Certificates
Update Chrome Browser

@berklamer, Hello and welcome to the forums.
Please don't bump really old posts - especially those that are no longer an issue. Closing.
