First, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before. I tried searching and found nothing, but I just registered here so I might have missed something.
Either way, Ubuntu and Unity has this new thing called locally integrated menus, which I personally find to be a brilliant alternative to unpractical solutions like "gear"-menus and client side decorated windows with loads of small buttons. So I wonder, can this be done in XFCE, and if not, is the feature planned for the future?
You can see exactly how it looks/works in this post : http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2014/02/loca … untu-14-04

xfce 4.12 does this already for those applications that support/require it.

If it does, how do you enable it? I can't seem to find a setting for it, like there is in Unity.
To be clear, I'm not talking about CSD - those work fine - but the much smarter solution detailed in that post linked, where menus appear in the traditional window decorator.

Sorry I took you to mean CSDs as used in applications like geary.
My bad.

xfwm would need appmenu/dbusmenu support for that(its the same way as those panel menubar pugins work), afaik the only wm that has support for appmenu/dbusmenu is kwin

I see! Thanks for the answers! I hope something like this could be added in the future.

Hi, any news? Perhaps someone has created the plugin or something...
