[Solved] Gnome 3.16 applications have now a ugly frame around their windows

Gnome 3.16 arrived yesterday in arch Linux and so I found, using Gnome applications, they have an ugly frame around them when used in XFCE now.

Probably a not working shadow.
This screenshot is made with the Adwaita Manjaro XFCE theme, with other GTK themes, the frame is slightly thinner but still ugly.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this frame?

Is the Xfwm4 compositor enabled? (Settings Manager >> Window Manager Tweaks >> Compositor).

What video card do you have?

Yes, compositor is enabled and working. (I see transparency effects e.g.) I also tried it with kwin (including compositor), same effect.

Video card:
$ lspci |grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Atom Processor D4xx/D5xx/N4xx/N5xx Integrated Graphics Controller

With Gnome 3.14, it worked! There were no such strange borders/frames.

That's interesting. I have 2 Arch installs - both with the Intel driver. One uses the 4.12 packages from the repository and the other is built from the git tree. The only time I see that shadow is if I turn off the compositor. With the compositor enabled, there is no shadow.

Out of curiosity, what does the following return (your current xfwm4 settings):

xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -lv

...and:

pacman -Qi xfwm4

But I found a workaround now: Downgrading 3 packages:
Downgrade of gtk3 (3.16.1-1 => 3.14.9-1)
Downgrade of nautilus (3.16.0-1 => 3.14.2-2)
Downgrade of totem (3.16.0-1 => 3.14.2-1)

After that, there is no more problem with that strange ugly frame.

IDK if, technically speaking, the folks behind GTK3 would consider this a bug? To the rest of the world, sure. But, since the developers of GTK3 insist on breaking something with each and every new release, lol, wouldn't they just consider this a clear sign of... "mission accomplished," lol?

OK; I found out and have to admit:
This only happens with xfwm4, if xfwm4 is started by "xfwm4 --replace" (I use kwin as my default window-manager) and Gnome-Application windows existed before. They just keep their surrounding from kwin it seems.

If Gnome-Applications are started after xfwm4, everything is alright.

Sorry to have taken your time with my special case (of using Gnome apps with a KDE window-manager in a XFCE desktop environment... ;-) )
