Terminal single color behind image

Hello.
I'm trying to make a custom background for my terminal (a picture in the corner with a semi-transparent background) but it doesn't cover the whole screen and the corners are really hard to read because of it. Putting a semi-transparent layer in the terminal would work, but it stays above the picture.
Is there any way to make the background picture stay above the solid color layer in the terminal?
Thanks.
