Switching off external monitor reactivates laptop display

Hi,

I recently upgraded from Debian Jessie to current Testing and am experiencing odd behaviour which I can't seem to fix. I have a laptop (Lenovo T420s) connected via HDMI to a Dell monitor. I have disabled the laptop display and work with the external monitor only. Up until the upgrade, the laptop's display only got activated when I disconnected the cable whereas now it activates when I switch off the monitor which doesn't come back when I switch it on again.

I would like to get the old behaviour back. Do you have any ideas? What am I missing?

Cheers,
Horstb
