Moving trash to separate HDD thunar

I have small sdd for debian w/ xfce.  My home is on a separate partition.  I had to empty my relatively large trash file today because I ran out of room.  I like keeping a large trash file because it has saved my ass in the past.  I have a huge but slow HDD I would like to move my home trash to.  Is this possible?  I know that creating a link from .local to the hdd does not work (unless I somehow did it wrong).

Thanks for any help.

Re: Moving trash to separate HDD thunar

Sorry for reviving this topic, but I have the same problem and cannot find answer on the Internet. I'd like to move my Trash directory to another partition (on bigger HDD) to save space on my SSD for system, so that the system will be aware of it. Any idea how to do that?
