Hello,
I have installed xfce on an Ubuntu server. I can login with the primary account, however I can't login with a secondary account I made so another person can remote login.
After logging in with this account you get this
and then you get booted off the connection.
Can you please tell me how I'd go about fixing this?
Regards,

Can you log in normally to that account when physically present (IOW, not remote)?

Following up with MDM's line of thinking, what method are you using to log in remotely? vnc? rdp?
Check to see what the difference is between the remote apps startup files for the primary and secondary accounts. Looks the DE isn't getting started for the secondary account.

I can use VNC to remote control the server. But when attempting to use remote desktop I'm unable to use it with the second account.

I wasn't really thinking anything, lol. I've just seen you help, well, pretty much ALL of us and know that at times you've had to extract information that was necessary to come up with a solution like a dentist extracts teeth from a recalcitrant patient (IOW, slowly, one at a time). And since there's no real way to offer my janitorial or painting skills over a web-forum, I figured... I bet I'd be good with a set of pliers .

MDM

I don't understand. Are you using VNC with both accounts? If so, compare the .vnc/xstartup files for both accounts. If not, what protocol are you using when you say "remote desktop"? Is this the Windows Remote Desktop client (rdp) that you are talking about?

I can connect to the server remotely with VNC. I can log into either account that way.
I installed XRDP and XFCE for remote management. The primary account seems to work, but not the secondary account.
When connecting using Microsoft's remote desktop application on Mac or PC the desktop environment fails to load for the secondary account.

How did you setup xrdp? What instructions did you use?
What are the contents of the ~/.xsession files for each account?
What are the contents of the ~/.vnc/xstartup files for each account?
