Hi dudes!
Im new in xfce, comming from KDE!
Well, just as im a newbie here, doubts starts to pop out rsrs!
My first is...how to allow change the cursor theme of xfce?
I did it:
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme x-cursor-theme /usr/share/icons/Golden-XCursors-3D-0.8 51
and then, i discovered out the theme
/usr/share/icons/Adwaita/cursor.theme 90
was with 90 of priority...then i run update-alternatives --config x-cursor-theme and selected the another one manually...
the command i did before was this one:
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme x-cursor-theme /usr/share/icons/Golden-XCursors-3D-0.8 51
But when i reboot my PC still does not appearing the option to use the golden cursor....i put the folder of the cursor in ~./icons too but no effect...
Some clue?

What version of Xfce are you using and which distro? I recall that 4.10 had issues with cursor themes but that seems to have been solved in version 4.12.

it is still an issue, I manage many xubuntu desktops and a few still won't change the cursor from small whjite to anything else. some will do it on one user and not the other

@cmcanulty, Are you running Xfce version 4.12? IIRC, you're running xubuntu 14.04 on the library computers, and that comes with Xfce 4.10.

OK that may be the issue, can I upgrade to xfce 4.12 without leaving 14.04? I want to stay always with
LTS for stability

My first is...how to allow change the cursor theme of xfce?
usually in the settings manager>mouse & touchpad
also keep in mind that you need a complete theme since gtk will always default to adwaita
