Hi,
Using this tutorial: http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/bulk-renamer/start.
I'm selecting multiple files and press F2. Get the main screen to rename files, but i'm not able to rename the files under New name. Why is this?
Thanks for your help!

What steps exactly are you following? For example:
1. I have a directory with 3 graphic files (pic1.png, pic2.png pic3.png).
2. I want to rename the "pic" part to "img".
3. I select the 3 files and press F2 to bring up the Thunar Bulk Renamer (Rename Multiple Files) dialog.
4. On the left-side drop-down, I select "Search & Replace".
5. In the "Search For:" text box, I enter "pic".
6. In the "Replace With:" text box, I enter "img".
7. As I do this, the new file names are displayed to the right of the current file names.
8. I press "Rename Files" and the files are renamed.
Is this the process you are using? If not, how does it differ?

No, this is not what i wanted.
I have multiple files which i want to rename. They have different names and i want to rename to a single name with a number:
as example:
Let's say i have 3 files called a.jpg, b.jpg and c.jpg. These files i want to have to be renamed to: z-001.jpg, z-002.jpg and z-003.jpg.
This i think cannot be achieved by the standard Thunar rename tool.

As far as I know, the thunar bulk rename tool is for simple bulk renaming.
